Board of DirectorsUnder AIM Qld & NT's Constitution a Board of representative members is chosen by the Professional Members of the Institute. Directors of the Board have a two year rotating term. The following members of the AIM Board have been elected for the 2006 - 2007 term.
Managing a considerable business spanning metropolitan and regional Queensland and the Northern Territory, John has contributed as an active Board Member who brings with him a wealth of knowledge and management experience. John has voluntarily chaired the Management Excellence Awards Committee and has represented the Institute in a range of forums.
Wayne is the Chief Executive Officer of MultiTrode Pty Ltd, a company that designs and manufacturs pump station controllers, RTUs, liquid level sensors, SCADA software and web-based monitoring and control. MultiTrode has more than 15,000 pump controllers and RTUs installed in water & wastewater pump stations all over the world. Prior to this Wayne was the Chief Executive Officer of National Transport Insurance, a specialist commercial motor insurer based in Brisbane. National Transport Insurance employs 120 staff in ten offices throughout Australia, has a premium income of $120 million and is recognised both in Australia and overseas as a leader in its field. Prior to joining National Transport Insurance Wayne was State Manager of AAMI in Queensland. He spent nine years as a regional manager with the motoring club RACQ. Wayne has a long association with AIM as an active regional member and council representative. He has held the position of Chairman in three separate regional councils including Cairns, Mackay and the Gold Coast. He is a past director of the Addition Awareness Foundation and chairman of the Cairns Traffic Advisory Council. He holds a Master of Business Administration, a Bachelor Degree in Business and Associate Diploma in Accounting.
For six years Carolyn was the Managing Editor of Management Today, Australia's only national specialist management magazine and Series Editor of the best selling Management Today book series. Carolyn regularly advises corporations, CEOs and top teams on strategic planning, high performance leadership and change management projects. She also advises Boards, primarily in the not for profit sector, on corporate governance and modern leadership strategies. Carolyn holds an undergraduate degree in Business and an MBA from the University of South Australia. She is a Fellow of the Australian Institute of Management and sits on the National Board of the Institute. She is a member of the Brisbane City Council City Business Advisory Board, and a Director of TheCyberInstitute Pty Ltd.
Helen has significant Directorship experience including roles as the former Chairman and President of Australian Post-Tel Institute Queensland, Chairman API Travel P/L, Director API Promotions P/L, Director API National Board Director – Brodie Corporation Australia P/L and Director - Extrusion Technologies International P/L. As an active supporter and steward of the Institute, Helen currently serves as Chairman of the Management Excellence Awards. Helen has also mentored in the Mentor Match program for Rural Women.
In her last position, Nanette had joint responsibility for a business turnover of approximately $300 million and a staff of approximately 540. She was also a member of the Executive Committee which was responsible for the strategic direction of the company and its overall financial performance. In August 1999 Brook Street Qld was taken over by TPM Worldwide Inc and Nanette remained as Joint Managing Director. Nanette is a Fellow (Life) of the Recruitment & Consulting Services Association (formally IPC and the NAPC), a past Fellow of the Institute of Company Directors, a Fellow of the Australian Institute of Management and in 1996 was appointed the Queensland and Australian Telstra Business Woman of the Year (Business Owner Category).
Grant was a partner of a leading Brisbane law firm for 10 years prior to undertaking private business consultancy for a number of professional firms focused on strategic direction and growth. Grant has a Bachelor of Laws, a Master of Laws and a Master of Business Administration.
Over the past eight years Mike has helped hundreds of businesses through his "down to earth" approach by way of various Government sponsored assistance and mentoring programs. He is a Commissioner for the Australian Fair Pay Commission, a Fellow of the Australian Institute of Management, a Fellow of the Australian Institute of Company Directors, a Director of the Heart Research Institute Association (Qld), and a member of the Small Business Advisory Panel to the Reserve Bank of Australia. Mike's business, MiniMovers, has been the recipient of a number of high profile awards including 2000 Queensland Medium Employer of the year, 2000 Australian National Training Authority's Australian Excellence in Training, 2003 Telstra and Queensland Government's Small Business of the year, 2004 Ernst & Young Australia Northern region Finalist Entrepreneur of the Year and 2005 Queensland Government Office of Fair Trading – Inaugural TradeSmart Consumer Award.
Graham has also held senior management roles in both national and multi-national organisations as well as having extensive experience in small business. Previous corporate positions include State Manager, Queensland – NRMA Insurance (Insurance Australia Group); State Senior Manager, Queensland – Medical Benefits Fund or Australia (MBF); and State Manager Consumer Sales and Service, Queensland – National Australia Bank (NAB). Graham's previous small business experience includes establishing and operating a chain of franchised skincare and beauty salons and spas, and establishing and operating an industry training consultancy. In addition to Graham's role as a Board member, he is the incoming Chairman of the Institute's Audit Committee. He is also the National Chairman of an industry specific Franchise Advisory Council. |
