How many intakes are there in a year? The AIM Graduate School offers three evening lecture intakes per year which are referred to as trimesters. Each trimester runs for twelve weeks. Applicants may gain entry and begin study in any one of the three trimesters in the year. Intensive courses are scheduled throughout the year according to a published calendar which can be viewed on the AIM Graduate School website. he AIM Graduate School 's ‘rolling intake' for distance units means participants can start any unit from any Monday in the year. 3. Which unit should I start with? The AIM Graduate School has developed a recommended sequence of units and suggests that participants follow that sequence which commences with Managing People. However, applicants may gain entry into the AIM Graduate School programs commencing in the subject of their choice if that supports individual learning and professional development needs. 4. How long will it take to complete the qualifications? Participants typically complete one unit at a time and using a combination of evening, intensive or distance modes can complete three units in a calendar year. Therefore the Graduate Certificate Professional Management can be completed in approximately 16 months and the Graduate Diploma Management Innovation program in approximately 32 months. Participants can fast track the completion of a program by enrolling in more than one unit per trimester at the discretion of the AIM Graduate School Academic Director. Evening lectures are held from 6.00pm to 9.00pm once a week for twelve weeks at AIM Management House in Spring Hill, Brisbane. Intensive courses are held over 4 consecutive days from 8.30am to 4.30pm at AIM Management House in Spring Hill, Brisbane. A fifth follow-up day is scheduled based on class consensus. Participants wishing to study distance mode may commence the twelve week unit of study from any Monday of the year. This is a major point of difference for the Graduate School and one which offers maximum flexibility for busy managers regardless of where they live. The AIM Graduate School has a commitment to small class sizes, typically between 6 - 15 participants. 7. Can I change delivery modes once a unit has commenced? Participants may not change between delivery modes once a unit has commenced. However, participants may change modes on commencement of a subsequent unit. 8. Can the AIM Graduate School tailor a program for my organisation? Tailored corporate programs are devised and delivered to organisations seeking to significantly upgrade the skills of middle to senior managers. The AIM Graduate School will work with organisations to customise course material for ‘best-fit' learning that matches organisational culture and goals. Delivery schedules are carefully created to provide an ideal learning intensity for participants. This means the course or program can be as concentrated or intermittent as is required by the organisation while still meeting strict compliance levels.9. What is expected in terms of workload? Although individual unit requirements differ, it is recommended participants complete 6-9 hours of self-directed study per week for each unit in addition to attendance at lectures . Participants studying by distance are recommended to complete 10-12 hours of self-directed study per week for each unit. This would include reading, preparation for lectures and preparation of assessment pieces. 10. Can I gain credit for unit that I studied somewhere else if it is similar to one offered by the AIM Graduate School? Credit may be granted for courses completed with other postgraduate educational providers at the discretion of the AIM Graduate School Academic Director. It is essential that the unit for which credit is being sought has significant similarity in terms of participant learning outcomes and depth of content and that the content covered in that course of study is still current. The longer it has been since the course was undertaken, the more difficult it is to establish the currency upon which best managerial practice is built.11. Can I enrol in a single unit to see if it suits me? Participants can enrol in any unit offered by the AIM Graduate School as a single unit of study for professional development. One passing that unit the participant may then choose to seek entry to the qualifications. 12. What does the assessment involve? The format of assessment differs between each unit, but generally it involves a combination of class participation, workplace reports, projects and concept tests. Report writing assessment tasks are based primarily on the participant's organisational context and experience. Assessment is at postgraduate level and requires academic referencing and evidence of having read and synthesised the literature on a particular discipline. 13. What happens if I get really busy at work? AIM is sensitive to the needs of practising managers and provides extensive study skills and personal support. All participants must understand and adhere to assessment due dates and follow guidelines on seeking extensions or provide evidence of special circumstances. Participants should contact the AIM Graduate School for assistance on accessing policies and procedures as soon as difficulty is identified. 14. Is one of the delivery modes easier than the other? Each of the delivery modes is designed to suit the varied and different needs of busy managers as well as to suit different learning styles. Each mode requires the same level of commitment and work from participants. 15. I don't have a bachelor's degree or formal qualification. Does that count me out? No. Applicants who do not meet standard entry requirements may be admitted on a provisional basis at the discretion of the AIM Graduate School Academic Director. Applicants who are offered provisional enrolment will have their enrolment formally confirmed if and when they meet certain expectations, usually the successful completion of a nominated unit. 16. Who can I talk to about my study options? Contact the AIM Graduate School to book a one on one postgraduate study coaching session with the AIM Graduate School Director. In this session participants will develop an understanding postgraduate study regardless of experience or preferred provider.
