Recognition of Prior Learning (RPL)Recognition of Prior Learning (RPL) recognises what you have already learned from other courses, life experience, work experience and any training provided at work, and measures it against the course you are doing or want to do. If what you have learned at work or elsewhere is relevant to the course, you may not have to do those parts of the course again. The advantages of applying for RPL are:
How to Apply for RPLApplying and PaymentIf you decide to apply for RPL you are required to complete an RPL Application Form [PDF; 18Kb]. Note Once the RPL Kit is completed and returned the assessing process will not take place until payment in full has been made. The price in full is 50% of the public course cost. For example if it is a 2 day public course costing $886.00 (AIM Member) or $1066.00 non-member the cost for the full recognition would be $443.00 (AIM Member) or $533.00 non-member including the $30.00 application fee. Supplying Evidence of ExperienceOnce your application has been received and paid in full then a Recognition Kit for each course listed on the application form will be forwarded out. To gain RPL you are required to complete the Recognition Kit as well supply evidence of experience. This experience may come from formal studies or life experience. This could include results of any previous study completed; for example Statements of Attainment, Certificates, Learning Outcomes, Units of Competency. Evidence also needs to be provided to correspond with the Learning Outcomes of the course or units of competency you wish to have recognised so that evaluation of your competency can be made. Application AssessmentIf your application is deemed successful we will then proceed to the next stage which can vary depending on the course you are seeking RPL for and the amount of evidence you have already supplied. You may be asked to attend an interview. The Assessors job will be to make sure you have met the criteria so that a decision regarding RPL can be made. Further Information |
